Six Sigma projects provide value to customers and businesses. If you want to make your project successful, you should know the five steps of a Six Sigma project.
Six-sigma improvement consists of a 5-step method called DMAIC. This project is focused on customers, businesses, and employees. Your project must have at least one sponsor. The project sponsor is generally a senior management executive. The success of the project is dependent on sponsors. They are the ones who identify the project and its aim.
Six Sigma Green Belt
The Six Sigma Green Belt course provides you with the tools and concepts that are required in any Six Sigma project. These are utilized within the DMAIC method to come up with efficient solutions that are designed to meet the specific needs of an organization.
DMAIC Method
Define
This step includes defining the problem, requirements, customers, and opportunities for improvement. This step is the basis of every upcoming step in the project. Every major decision is taken by keeping this step in mind.
Measure
You have to measure the performance of the project. The efficiency of processes is measured in this step. The frequency of problems and errors is also identified in this step.
Analyze
If anything during the process is not working, then the analysis of the root cause is done here. This step finds the obstacle and guides in finding solutions that fit the problem.
Improve
Now that the efficiency of the project and the root cause of the problem have been identified, it is time to come up with a relevant solution that will eliminate the root cause of the problem completely.
Control
This process includes sustaining the current solution while also keeping in mind potential future problems. Everything should be under control and managed efficiently to avoid any future failure of any process.
Six Sigma project
The duration of a Six Sigma project can range somewhere between 3 and 4 months. After every step of the DMAIC process, feedback is taken from the sponsor to ensure everything is going according to the aim of the projects and the processes are aligned according to the long-term plan of the organization.
Regular team meetings are conducted among the Six Sigma green belts and those involved in the project to set out project objectives.
